This two-bedroom urban haven with classical plasterwork and dramatic views offers a careful balance of elegance and informality. For the interiors, the clients desired a neutral canvas to highlight the skyline while showcasing their love of modern midcentury design and contemporary artisanship. NICOLEHOLLIS provided a full drawings package, detailed furnishings and lighting program and art consultation and curation. Iconic pieces, including a wiggle chair, papa bear and wishbone chairs and Saarinen table anchor the space, mixed with custom creations by NICOLEHOLLIS, lighting by David Weeks and Tom Dixon and artwork by up-and-coming artists such as Christopher Badger, Robert Kingston and Bernadette Jiyong frank. NICOLEHOLLIS pieces include a blackened steel bar cabinet with polished interior. The firm also designed and commissioned a hanging TV cabinet above the fireplace with hand-block fabric panel doors by artist Miriam Dym. The breakfast nook has custom banquette that provides additional seating for a quick bite or intimate dinner. The master bedroom features an ombre headboard and leather hide-on-hair rug from stark carpet.
