OVID NAPA VALLEY
ST HELENA, CALIFORNIA
Taking its name from the epic Roman poet, Ovid celebrates both the artistry and science of viticulture, overlooking the expanses of Napa Valley. Designed by Howard Backen, the architecturally significant structure houses a limited-case production, working winery atop Pritchard Hill. Conforming to the hillside, the winery is built from reclaimed timber, corrugated metal and stone, which create an authentic dialog between architecture and land. For the interiors, NICOLEHOLLIS echoes this relationship, employing an earthy palette, rustic textures and moody shades. Accessories and furnishings emphasize an elegant agrarian lifestyle. As an ode to its poetic namesake, the spaces combine romance with moments of wonder highlighted by the grandiose cabinet of curiosities.
